Entry for June 28, 2008
The summer of 2008 is fast disappearing here in the Interior.
The Santa Swingers had the opprotunity to have Gordy Oseth come visit and call the MidNight Sun Dance for us last week (June 19) before he departed for home. What a great turn out we had. There were dancers from all over and some from the Interior who came out to support their long lost teacher. July 4th is on Friday this year and the Santa's will be holding a dance from 7:30-9:30pm with some out side guests making a stop to dance at the Farthest North Square Dance Hall. Our caller for the evening will be Dave Smith of Delta Jct. Look forward to having everyone there. Come out and meet these nice folks from the lower 48. They would love to hear some of the great history that many of you have to offer on living in Alaska and your days here. Also do not forget the State Dance in is Ninilchik this year on July 10-13. Look forward to seeing everyone down there for a lot of great dancing. Jerrie 2008-06-28 20:38:57 GMTComments: 0 |Permanent Link

Buffalo Wallow Report We had a great time, okay weather (sprinkled at Rika’s and wind on Friday). We had ice cream at the Rika’s Dance. The Delta Chamber of Commerce opened the Tourist Center and provided snacks and shopping for all the dancers at the End-of-The-Highway Dance. We had a sing-a-long around the campfire on Saturday night, with Mike Preskitt on the guitar. We made campfire pies, marshmallows, and smores Saturday and Sunday night. The square and round dance workshops were well attended; all in all, a wonderful weekend. Everyone enjoyed the caller (Gary Belcik from Pasadena , Texas ), cuer (Denise Schmidt, from Anchorage , Alaska ), and we had a great caller/cuer dance with (Stan, Brad, Mike, David (callers), Denise, Mike, Amanda (cuers). All the clubs pitched in and helped the Buffalo Squares setup and cleanup, Thanks to everyone for attending and helping, this made the 29th Annual Buffalo Wallow a great success. Thanks Again from the Buffalo Squares. We had a great time in Delta for the Buffalo Wallow over the weekend and Mike cued for the After the Wallow dance in Fairbanks on Monday night. Hello Everyone,
Wow what a weekend. Spring Fling had a great turn out with 5 plus squares on the floor. The caller Dale Dockery was a hoot who knew there was no sex in square dancing. Sarah Preskitt and Dad ( Mike Preskitt) taught some wonderful rounds on Saturday. Steve Sawyer from Palmer sang the National Anthem for us. What a plesure that was to have someone available live instead of the box music. Our very own John Hanchett gave the invocation. John has started working nights and had made a special trip in to dance with us this weekend then turn around and go to work. Thank You John I know how hard that is to do. Also let's not forget Debbie Preskitt and Denise Schmidt who took in moneys at the door and who sold 50/50 tickets as well as the silent auction tickets. Gary and Bev Kersey came in on Sunday morning and cooked up a mess of pancakes for everyone before their journeys home. And best of all a huge thank goes out to Tammy and Marlen Pruitt for housing the caller, cuer and the cuer's family. What a huge help that was. They not only housed them they went out of their way to make sure they arrived at the dances on time and showed the caller some exciting sites around Fairbanks. Tammy and Marlen also used their air miles to bring you your caller for the weekend so make sure that you let them know how much you appreciate that. Norm Former from Anchorage used his air miles as well to bring Sarah your cuer home from Indiana. When you see him be sure to thank him also. Thank you to everyone who came out to help. You help was greatly appreciated. Everyone from all over chipped in to make this weekend worth while. Just a reminder there is a Santa Dance this Thursday, May 1 at 7:30pm. Look forward to having everyone there to dance. Please RSVP me to let me know if you will be there. I would appreciate the heads up. Jerrie 2008-04-28 22:25:12 GMTComments: 0 |Permanent Link
